Work as a coach led me to a place where I never dreamt to ever have an encounter. When unconsiously entering this place which was just an appartment of a guy I was meant to see , the automatically opening doors freaked me out a bit, but still I was not expecting anything. I was going to mee at a guy that needed some help with his life. Standing in the living room of the appartment with no one in sight, the feeling of someting weird or maybe awkard going on was confirmed by this voice that shouted: In the bedroom, the door on your left!
In that bedroom of the appartment with the automatically opening doors the bed was occupied by a young man with a nice face and a very strong neck. Then, while looking at him, figuring out what was happening, it hit me that this young men had a very thin body and that he was paralized from the neck down.
I was send there by an agency to offer help, I just did not yet understand what kind of help. The agency forgot to email me the file of their client and usually I offer help to people that are physically healthy.
It took me about three seconds to find myself again and start behaving as I usually do. I made him tea that he did not like, wrong tea, and we started talking. A million questions pondered my mind and here are some answers.
This guy got hit by a car at the age of twenty while on his scooter and he felt very lucky that he was not wearing his helmet because would he have worn it, he would have died.
He is now thirtyfive years old.
He was very angry the first years after his accident and then he just glided efforlesly into his life as it is now.
He hopes that the woman that hit him with her car found happiness again, he heard that she had just started a new relationship when it happened and that she is a mom now.
He loves football, talking, sitting in the sun, watching the news and I hope I will get to know what else he enjoys when we meet again next week.
His friends and parents visit him frequently, his parents visit him every day.
Love from his parents and friends fills him with the will to live. And he is filled with it!
